NUR201 - Maternity
My scheduled for this semester starts off with 8 weeks of babies. Officially the class is titled Nursing Considerations Across the Lifespan II but essentially it's a Maternity course. Class is going well so far and I'm getting decent grades. Hopefully I can keep it up. After this class the next 8 weeks is NUR202, Psychiatrics. Keep an eye on my Tweets for more frequent updates.

NUR104/105
It's been a while since I last posted. All is going well. I'm still in school and crazy busy. Right now we are in Nursing 104 and 105. These classes are definitely harder than anything else we've been in so far. I'm passing but not by very much. My first test I had a 74 or 76 and the second test I had a 66. I'm very happy to say though that I got an 80 on this last one. I could've had an 86 or 88 if I just would have read the questions a little better. I missed several question just because I didn't read the question right.
Clinicals are going great though. This past weekend I was assigned to take care of a World War II Navy Vet. It was really interesting just talking with him.
What I really can't wait for though is Summer vacation. Only a few more weeks to go (and only two clinicals). Yay!

Test No.3
I just passed test number 3 in NURSING 102. I escaped this one by a thread though. You need at least a 70% to pass and I received a 70% mark. I'll have to study a bit more for the next one. Time to break out the old notecards and make myself a set of flashcards I think. Previous to this I had a 90% average so this is gonna set me back a bit. I'm sure I can bring it up again though.

Serotype 19A
Worrisome Infection Eludes a Leading Children’s Vaccine: A highly drug-resistant germ has become a common cause of meningitis, pneumonia and other life-threatening conditions in young children. The culprit — a strain of strep bacteria — can conquer almost all antibiotics in pediatrics, and has dodged a vaccine otherwise credited with causing the number of serious infections in children to plummet. click here to read full article

Sociology Test
We have our first test in Sociology tonight. I'm not too worried about it but, being the first test and all, I'm still a little nervous. Hopefully all goes well.

School Patch
Here's what the old patch for the Nursing program looks like. Most of us have this patch on our uniforms but some of the patch. Its basically the same look but it reads "Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences" instead of "School of Nursing."

Corners
Man, bedmaking is more of a pain then I thought. Now don't get me wrong, I've made a bed before. I've just never made a bed for the hospital. Most of it is just like you'd expect but those blasted corners are a pain. Well, for me at least. I had to practice it and get it "not quite right" a few times first. I did manage to get it good enough to pass muster at least. You might be reading this thinking, "are you serious?" :-) Yes I am. Anyway, just some venting. If you don't know what "corners" are then just ask me sometime.
