Cranial Nerves

Here's a little something I put together to help me remember the cranial nerves.

Here is a pneumonic device for remembering the 12 cranial nerves.
On Old Olympus’ Towering Tops, a Fin And German View Some Hopps.
  1. On, is for Olfactory.
    Your sense of smell.
  2. Old, is for Optic.
    Your sense of Sight.
  3. Olympus’ is for Oculomotor.
    The movement of your pupils and your eyes.
  4. Towering is for Troclear.
    Another one for the movement of your eyes.
  5. Tops is for Trigeminal.
    Your facial sensations, motor function, and chewing.
  6. A, is for Abducent.
    A third nerve to control your eyes.
  7. Fin is for Facial.
    For motor functions, facial muscles, sensory functions, and taste on the front of your tongue.
  8. And, is for Acoustic.
    Your sense of hearing.
  9. German is for Glossopharyngeal.
    For swallowing, voice, gag reflex, and taste on the back of your tongue.
  10. View is for Vagus.
    For swallowing, voice, and gag reflex.
  11. Some is for Spinal Accessory.
    For motor functions and your neck muscles.
  12. Hopps is for Hypoglossal.
    For motor functions and your tongue muscle.
